Lime Kiln Studio is
relatively isolated. Besides the pool and acres of mountainside to explore,
every band
tends to need to get off premises now and then for a breather.
The local village of Villanueva
de Tapia is a small town about 5 minutes drive from the house and studio.
Largely
residential,
it’s
perfect
for a quick beer and some tapas. Salinas, 10 minutes drive, Archidona,
around twenty minutes away by car, boast many shops, Tapas Bars and Restaurants,
but it’s important to note two things: between 2pm and 5pm the area’s amenities
(apart
from hypermarket chains) are shut for siesta. Also, the area is yet untapped
by ex-pats, so it’s a good idea to brush up on a few Spanish phrases.
Around an hour’s drive away
are Granada (to the east) and Malaga (southward). As a popular holiday destination
and coastal town, Malaga needs little introduction. The inland town of Granada,
however, is famed for its Moorish roots, playing home to the breathtaking
Alhambra Palace. With plenty of shops, both Malaga and Granada
are ideal places to pick up mementos and presents, but be sure to set aside
a
day for
such
excursions.
